Overview

Dentures are a functional, versatile and natural-looking way to replace missing teeth and support the gum tissue. They are designed to replicate the function of natural teeth, restoring your ability to chew and speak, and can be shaped to improve the soft-tissue profile of the face for a fuller, more youthful appearance.

Dentures have many benefits and are a useful alternative where implants and bridges may not be possible. They can also be connected to implants to improve stability and retention — a common problem for patients with complete upper and lower dentures.

Dentures are also frequently used as an interim solution while the mouth heals for implant surgery, as they can be made quickly and are removable.

The treatment journey
First impressions — impressions are taken of your mouth and sent to our dental laboratory to make a custom tray and a wax bite block.
Second impressions and bite — a more accurate impression is taken using the special tray, and your bite is recorded with the wax block.
Wax try-in — about two weeks later you try in your denture, set in wax, to check you are happy with the appearance of the teeth; if not, it goes back to the laboratory for a further try-in.
Fitting — the finished denture is fitted, with a slight adjustment afterwards if needed.

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of Valplast dentures?

Valplast dentures are considered a game-changer: they are lightweight, flexible, easy to use and suitable for patients with allergies.

Do Valplast dentures look better than traditional dentures?

Generally yes, because the materials are designed to suit the natural colours of the gums and teeth, and there are no metal clasps of the kind often seen with traditional dentures.

How long can Valplast dentures last?

Valplast dentures can last around 15 years or longer. Using denture cleaner to keep them in good condition and attending regular check-ups helps ensure a long, healthy lifespan.
